As part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), over 300,000 Kentuckians will be eligible for health insurance coverage through Medicaid beginning as early as Wednesday, January 1, 2014. The Kentucky Interagency Council on Homelessness (KICH) developed an information sheet
on part of the implementation of the ACA. This sheet includes information about Medicaid eligibility and access. Health Centers across Kentucky are eligible to apply for funding to increase awareness and to assist individuals to apply for benefits. A listing of the centers is on the Kentucky Primary Care Information Web site
In addition, there is a link to the Kentucky Health Benefit Exchange
, which, beginning on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, will offer consumers a one-stop market for affordable health insurance. The health needs of Kentuckians are immense, especially for those who do not have insurance.
Agencies are encouraged to plan to publicize these benefits and to assist their clients to access these vital resources.
